Interterm at Chapman

Interterm is offered in between Fall and Spring semesters where students are allowed to take a 6 week course, whether it be one or a maximum of four credits. This gives students the chance to fulfill a GE credit, take a class required for their major or some just come back to Chapman for another month of winter break in the California heat. As for myself, I chose to fulfill my Science GE credit by enrolling in a Biology class taught in Irvine Lecture Hall. Figuring that this class would be a big commitment, I decided it would be best to take it during interterm so that I would be able to put all of my focus on this subject rather than having to balance it with my other subjects in the spring or next fall.

Interterm is not only a great chance to take a class you have been interested in, but also to explore the surrounding areas of Orange that you may have not had time to visit because of classes. In my case, my best friend from High School flew in from Arizona to visit me! We had a chance to go to a hockey game at Staples Center, go to a taping of America’s Funniest Home Videos, visit Venice beach, go on a Star Tour in Hollywood and of course take a trip to the happiest place on earth, Disneyland... all in one weekend! Coming back to Chapman for interterm, you will find, since you are only enrolled in one class, that you will have a lot more free time on your hands compared to Fall or Spring semester, which is not a bad thing. This gives you time to focus on creating some goals for next semester, pick up a new hobby or just spend more time with your friends.

Overall, I would definitely recommend enrolling in a class for interterm, at least for your freshman year because you not only get to get credits out of the way, its really fun too!
