Once a year, members of Greek life at Chapman University come together for the most incredible, suspense-packed, exciting, and down-right awesome week of the year: GREEK WEEK. I got my first taste of it last year and ever since, I have been hooked. I was even caught by my roommates singing, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” What can I say? There is nothing more magical than seeing grown men dancing around on the steps of the library as they sing praises for every sorority, seeing women from each house tugging rope like their arms are made of pure steel, and seeing these events unfold to the screaming voices of every Greek chant that has ever been written. Greek week is a time for each house to come together, train, and perform to the best of their ability at popping balloons, tossing water from cup to cup, and how could I forget stacking hundreds of cans into intricate sculptures that are later donated to charity. Because Chapman has such a large population of the campus involved in Greek life, you cannot get too far on campus without seeing a Greek proudly wearing a t-shirt in honor of the festivities. Greek week took place last week and what a week it was. Competitors from every house gave it 100% in every event and it brought the Greek community together once again. And a big congratulations to FIJI and Delta Gamma who were the winners. See you all next year…bring your A game.
