Junior year brought with it many new things; ambitions, worries, excitements, and maybe best of all…a new student union. Starting in January, the space that used to be home to the old cafeteria began a transformation culminating in the first day of school opening of this new space as a student union. The student union has fast become a place where I spend a good majority of my time as it is an atmosphere that is great for studying, socializing, eating, and really whatever you might want to do at the time. With this new student union, we also got a few new dining options; World of Wings, Jamba Juice, and Einstein Brother’s Bagels. Back in early September, Einsteins began advertising for a “free breakfast for a year” promotion in which the first 50 guests on a designated Friday would receive 52 free breakfast sandwhich coupons. As I am a broke college student this offer of free food was quite appealing(you will soon understand how this feels). As the day came closer, a few friends and I planned to show up at around 6 am – one hour before the 7 am opening time, figuring that would be plenty of time to score some free bagels. Fast forward to the night before the promotion, it is 11:30 PM and I am near the student union and I see students already lining up. I immediately called up my friends and we got in line. Almost eight hours later, after a night of music, games, little sleep, and even less homework, I, along with 49 other lucky and dedicated students, was handed a book of 50 coupons for free breakfast from Einsteins. The next day many people asked me if it was worth it, to which I confidently responded “Of course! Do you have free breakfast for a year?” Needless to say, it was a lot of fun, and turned out pretty well. I’m just hoping they give away more free food soon!
